Camping with DIY Solar Power!
My family and I love to go camping. Personally, I’ve been camping since I was around 5 years old. I remember camping in all sorts of places and in various forms, tents, campers, travel trailers, etc… But, the big difference was that back then, we didn’t have easy access to DIY solar power. Definitely, not like we do today…
On a recent camping trip, we simply placed one of our homemade solar panels on the roof of the tent, along with the batteries and inverter (in an icechest behind the tent) and voila, instant power.
With this little setup, we were able to power the
- Laptop
- Camera battery charger
- Small portable stereo
- lights
- shaver
Now, I know sometimes you want to just get away from life and all it’s snares (hence going without electricity). Believe me, I get this way too and still love to go backpacking (ahem, when theirs time). But sometimes, you just want a quick getaway and want to bring the “conveniences” of home or have kids, which require their own devices
