Even Ohio Police Cars Now Use Solar Power
Police normally keep their engines running at all times, because of the power consumption by their radios, integrated laptops, and other power sucking devices. That is changing in Ohio as the state has decided to install PV solar panels in its 1,150 Ford Crown Victoria cruisers to keep the batteries charged and conserve fuel. These solar panels produce 5watts of electricity, and are expected to last 5 years at a cost of around $37 each. The Solar panels are installed on the rear deck of the patrol car and are wired directly to the car’s battery.
The use of solar panels and the cost savings they produce continues to impact our everyday lives…
Woohoo, Go Ohio!
